Abstract

The traditional approach of statically configuring a single congestion control algorithm can no longer adapt to the dynamic changes in networks across time and regions, the dynamic switching mechanism for congestion control algorithms has drawn widespread attention from the industry. To address issues such as low network detection accuracy and transmission performance fluctuations during dynamic switching, this paper studies the dynamic switching mechanism for congestion control algorithms based on QUIC in the wired network scenario. This mechanism first introduces the receiver buffer factor to enhance the algorithm's adaptability to different configurations of the receiving end; Secondly, it establishes a bottleneck link buffer detection model based on BBR to improve the detection accuracy of network conditions; Finally, it realizes the smooth switching between BBR and CUBIC to achieve a balance between performance improvement and stability during the switching process. Experimental results demonstrate that this mechanism achieves a throughput gain coverage rate of 78%~87% in shallow bottleneck link buffer scenarios and 89%~95% in deep bottleneck link buffer scenarios. Compared with traditional modeling-based algorithms, this mechanism significantly improves the bandwidth utilization in wired network scenarios and shows good stability in both throughput and round-trip delay dimensions.
