Abstract

Aiming at the shortcomings of the sparrow search algorithm, such as slow convergence speed and unbalanced search ability, this paper proposes a sparrow search algorithm that integrates orthogonal learning and dynamic balance (SSAOD) . First, the SSAOD introduces an orthogonal learning strategy to strengthen the information transmission between individuals and improve the convergence speed of the algorithm. Then, the algorithm adopts a dynamic balance strategy to enhance the global exploration ability of the algorithm in the early iteration and the local exploitation ability in the later iteration, so as to balance the two search behaviors. SSAOD has the best overall optimization ability, better stability, faster convergence speed and higher accuracy on the IEEE CEC 2022 test functions. The proposed algorithm is also applied to the multi-threshold image segmentation problem. As a result, the image details are clearer and the information is more abundant, compared with the results of other algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed SSAOD not only has better numerical optimization ability, but also has better ability to solve practical problems.
