Group activity recognition based on selective fusion and relational reasoning

Abstract

To address the problem of how to select more discriminative multimodal character features and how to pay more attention to individual-specific spatio-temporal interaction modeling when performing character relationship inference, this paper proposed an algorithmic framework for dynamic relationship inference based on selective feature fusion(SFDRI). It achieved the selective fusion of multimodal features by designing a selective feature fusion module that added a resampling method to select the most relevant feature representation based on the probability distribution scores of the random functions of different modal features. And it used the dynamic relationship inference module to achieve complex spatio-temporal inference for individuals. By initializing the interaction domain on the spatio-temporal graph, it used the dot product to calculate the predicted character interaction matrix, and meanwhile added dynamic offsets of each character feature to form an individual-specific interaction graph, and iteratively updated the features on the interaction graph for the final group behavior recognition. Combined with the comparison experiments, the algorithm improves the average recognition accuracy by 1.2% and 1.5% on the publicly available volleyball dataset and collective activity dataset, respectively, demonstrating the effectiveness of the algorithmic framework.
