Model-reused method of two-stage relations and entities extraction with prompt tuning

Abstract

Extraction of entities and relations aims to identify named entities and extract semantic relationships between them from unstructured text. The existing two-stage relations and entities extraction methods are difficult to reuse models in different stages and need to tune large number of parameters which are not applicable to actual application scenarios. This paper used prompt tuning to improve existing method and proposed REPT(a model-reused method of two-staged relations and entities extraction with prompt tuning). The method used fine-tuned pretrained language model for relational classification and then extracted entities by prompt tuning based on pretrained language model fine-tuned in the first stage. Experimental results show that REPT can reuse the pretrained language model and achieve comparable performance with the SOTA model, while the tuning parameters are only 50% of the baseline models.
