Joint optimization on production and preventive maintenance planning for multi-product production system based on two-stage time delay model

Abstract

This paper developed a joint optimization model based on two-stage time delay model to solve the production and maintenance problems of multi-product production components series production system. First, by using the production cycle segmentation theory, the whole cycle divided into several unit time periods. Production activities and maintenance activities shared each period, and the production system carried out preventive maintenance after a number of time periods. Second, based on the constraints between actual production time and available production time, this paper established the minimum total cost model. The maintenance considered the cost of defect and failure maintenance, cost of maintenance and inspection, and the cost of loss of unqualified products that might arise from the operation of equipment under abnormal conditions. Production took into account production costs, inventory costs, delayed non-delivery costs and equipment start-up costs to restore production after maintenance shutdown. Finally, by an example, it calculated the optimal preventive maintenance cycle and the output of each product in each unit time period to verify the validity of the proposed model.
