Context feature and its application on sentiment classification model

Abstract

This paper focused on the effect of context feature on sentiment classification problem, and presented a hierarchical Bi-LSTM sentiment classification model. The model includes two level Bi-LSTMs. The model accepted a series of word embedding as input in sentence-level. The context feature of whole document was transformed into a dense and continuous vector, concatenated with output vectors of the sentence-level Bi-LSTMs and fed into sigmoid layer to predict sentiment polarity of the document. Intuitively, the model computed a context vector mask for every sentence in document. The consistence polarity was enhanced, and the inconsistent was weakened. This resulted in better accuracy. The experiment on IMDB and Yelp 2013 dataset shows that this hierarchical model with context feature outperforms the common LSTM and Bi-LSTM models significantly, and is competitive with the state-of-the-art results. Experiment on another dataset including 20 thousands Chinese reviews was used to analyze the causes of this competitive advantage.
