Implementation of WLAN load aware handover method based on SDN

Abstract

Based on the software-defined network that separates the control plane of the network from the forwarding plane and provides an open and programmable interface, this paper proposed a handover algorithm based on SDN for AP load sensing to reduce frequent switching in the network and made the load between AP relatively balanced. The method used the centralized control function of SDN to monitor the network status information of the AP in real time and the controller assisted the load status of the AP and predicted the terminal movement status to assist the handover process. The experimental results show that this method can reduce the switching times and balance the load between AP to ensure the quality of service of users.
